Halloween!!!

Halloween was perhaps marked most strongly by my trip to Old Gold in Burlington the night before...after a long, uncomfortably frigid walk equipped with iPhone GPS, my boyfriend and I arrived. The intentions were a little less than focused- we needed cowboy attire. Fake guns, holsters, sheriff badges, boots...whatever we could stumble upon, really.
The store itself was welcoming in it's own Burlington-esque way...almost circus like, but a strange feeling of safeness accompanied me despite the walls of graphic masks. The last thing I would have expected to find amongst the miscellaneous clutter was a box set of every bit of cowboy garb we could want, but sure enough, our prayers were answered.
The next night we were armed, dangerous, and ready to dance our faces off. The dance was a pretty good time, the DJ was relatively impressive. It was nice to hear a couple of older songs (Shout, Dancing Queen, etc.), that's not typical with most of today's DJs. Nonetheless, it was MUCH appreciated!! Love me some ABBA. Always.

Freshman Fifteen is TRUTH

I never thought it could really be- I never predicted the late night eating, the excessive french fry consumption, or the spontaneous wings order. But over the course of almost two months, the temptations have become stronger and higher in quantity. What's a girl to do?!

Sadly, I've found that the boys have been eating more greenery than I. This is the only world that could possibly exist in. Full confession mode: I have had french fries at least once a day since I've been here. Even fuller confession mode: when the rare day comes along that I skip getting ice cream, I'm proud of myself. Way to go Claire, why don't you give yourself a big pat on the back? You only ate kind of horribly today.

Einstein's, on the other hand, is a whole new level of bad decision making. If I had been here one year earlier, perhaps I would have avoided it since I'd already learned to live without it...instead, I'm shoveling in bagels and smoothies at a rapid rate several times a week. What is that?! It's so close, so delicious...pretty much the definition of the devil on your shoulder; a devil I've managed to quickly befriend and love so dearly. Boy oh boy have I done it now.

Amongst all of this, an even larger question looms-
"How many times have you experienced productive physical activity since you've been here, Claire?"
My response usually inquires whether or not living on the fourth floor counts. The response to that is usually the logical one: why, of course not.

In a perfect world, this confession would prompt me to rethink the next plate of mayo and french fries or smoothie run- but in this world, all I can do is hope that it does.

Say a prayer for Claire everyone.

Some Foliage We've Got Here!

Dear Saint Michael's College,

Thank you for your beautiful foliage and wide array of Fall colors in this magical time of year- through both sunshine and rain, you are truly a beautiful campus.

On this past gorgeous weekend (before the showers came around), I finally got the chance to explore Gill Brook Trail. Shockingly enough, I did so in a tank top and flip flops, still managing to work up a bit of a sweat.

Thankfully, it dropped to cooler temps later that night when I ventured into Burlington, though I eventually regretted the flip flops- especially when we missed our bus back to campus. Luckily, a valuable lesson was learned. From here on out, Ben and Jerry's will forever be my go-to time waster. Nothing wrong with a little Mint Chocolate Chip. Ever.

Despite the almost hormonal ups and downs in weather through the past week, I was able to find a shining light in my several Instagram opportunities. Rain or shine, we've got a beauty on our hands:

Until next time! :)
